There are four different ways to submit a contribution to this conference.

1. Abstract and oral presentation

2. Abstract, paper in the conference proceedings, and oral presentation

3. Abstract and poster presentation

4. As part of a minisymposium

The details for how and what to submit are given in the following.

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one talk. (This does not apply to invited plenary speakers). The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions to this request.

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. For the 2019 Conference on Control and Its Applications, a lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. Additionally, SIAM requests speakers submit only one lecture presentation for the conference, either a minisymposium or contributed lecture. Poster submissions are not restricted.

A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a poster board. Boards will be able to accommodate A0 posters (84,1 x 118,9 cm). A poster session is two hours long.

Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 1500 characters, including spaces, in English.  Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ct19

Important note: People who submit an abstract can also, if they wish, submit a full paper for consideration in the conference proceedings. The instructions for submitting a full paper are given in the following section, entitled “Proceedings Submissions.” Submitting a full paper for consideration in the proceedings is optional.

Proceedings Submissions

A refereed proceedings will be part of this conference. Papers in the proceedings are included in the Ei Compendex (EI-indexed). Conference participants have the opportunity to submit a full paper for consideration in the conference proceedings. Submitting a full paper for consideration in the proceedings is optional.

The proceedings will be posted online after the conference concludes in late June 2019. A USB will also be distributed onsite to conference attendees.

Speakers interested in submitting a full paper for consideration in the proceedings must complete both steps outlined below:

1. Submit the abstract of the paper to SIAM’s Conference Management System (CMS) as described in the “Minisymposia” and “Contributed Presentation” sections. Submitting your abstract to the CMS will not automatically submit your paper for consideration in the  proceedings.

2. Submit the full paper to PaperCept, Inc. by January 21, 2019. The PaperCept submissions site is available at https://controls.papercept.net/conferences/scripts/start.pl. Please scroll down to the section titled “SIAM CT19” and click “Submit a contribution to SIAM CT19.”      

Full paper submissions should present previously unpublished, original results that are not simultaneously submitted elsewhere. All papers will be peer-reviewed.

Papers must be in English, should have a maximum length of eight (8) pages (single spaced, 2 column, 10 point font, and at least 1” margin on each side.) Authors must format their papers in LaTeX2e using the SIAM SODA macro titled “soda2e_061418.zip” at https://www.siam.org/Conferences/About-SIAM-Conferences/Proceedings#Macro

Notifications of acceptance into the proceedings will be sent to speakers via email in late February, 2019. Requests for paper revisions and instructions for submission of final papers will also be provided at this time.

Every paper accepted for inclusion in the proceedings must also be presented during the conference. All presenters must pay the registration fee. The only exceptions to this rule are the members of the organizing committee, the invited speakers, and the recipients of the following prizes: the winners of the SICON Paper Prizes, the winners of the SIAG/Control and System Theory Prize, and the Reid Prize Lecturer.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium generally consists of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. To ensure balance, SIAM prefers a single individual not be the (co)organizer of more than one minisymposium. However, organizers can submit up to three (3) parts per minisymposium, allowing up to twelve (12) speakers. (SIAM prefers a limit of three, though you may reduce to two or increase to four, if requested.) In addition, SIAM discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers or co-authors come from the same institution.

Prospective minisymposium organizers must submit a proposal, in English, consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 1500 characters, including spaces), a list of speakers, and presentation titles using the Conference Management System at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ct19

It is recommended that the first speaker provide an overview of the topic area. Each minisymposium speaker should submit an abstract no longer than 1500 characters, including spaces. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions.
